Prefolds are the most basic diaper. They look like a big rectangle or square and are folded onto baby. They require a Snappi (y-shaped stretchy plastic fastener) or pins for closure. Covers are needed to keep wetness off of clothes (and mommy!). Prefolds can also be used as extra inserts or doublers as well. These are great because they are inexpensive, so you can have a ton in your stash. They are great for newborns, who go to the bathroom a lot! They are also super absorbent and easy to clean.
